“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. ... Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
We envision a world in which there are no “others”.
Otherness is an illusion; one that keeps our world splintered and divisive. It prevents us from being able to relate to and connect with people of different cultures, races, and backgrounds.
Through systemic injustice, otherness also divides the world into "have's" and "have-not's". People who have access to things like affordable mental healthcare... and people who do not. Consequently, good people are needlessly dying of readily preventable causes.
Here at Imperfect Cause, we shine a light on everyday heroes-- those who work tirelessly within their communities to restore hope, spark transformation, and save lives.
Their stories matter. They inspire us and show us what's possible, when we're willing stand in the gap and fight for our human rights.
We invite you, the viewer, to lean in and to recognize the shared, human experiences that bind us all together.
As Maya Angelou said:
"Do the best you can, until you know better. Then when you know better, do better."
